The
Gomez Mill House sustained major site damage from Hurricane Irene.
The hardest hit were the Jews' Creek natural stone banks, the dam
retaining walls and the meadow as you will see in the photos below
taken on Monday, August 29, 2011. The recently restored Dard Hunter
Mill, which reopened after three years in May 2011, sustained some
damage and will remain closed for the rest of the season. Additional
photos, details of the damage, and a video of the actual flood and
breach of the retaining wall will be placed on the website within
the next few weeks.
Please
check for schedule and admissions update information if you plan
to visit the site though our season closure on Sunday, November
13.
